The Bucket List: March 2011

What is this list?

Friends have decided to create a list of forty things to do before I turn forty in September. I've decided to play along and try to complete the list before my birthday. I'm lucky that Jennie will also play along and help me complete this list.

I've decided not to post the list on the blog. Why not? Revealing the list would be similar to reading the book before going to see the movie. In most cases disappointing. Also, the likely followers of this blog already know the content of the list.
(Update: A few people said that the list should be online so that they could volunteer/sign up for some of these activities)

For the purpose of this blog, I've decided to call them "task". Most of them can be completed locally and without advance planning. I also plan to drag in the creators of the list into accomplishing some of the tasks with me.

The list:

29. Get a manicure and/or pedicure

I had a great time getting my feet serviced. Jenn, Sarah and I went to the 3rd avenue spa for a pedicure. For men they call it a "sports" pedicure, but it's the same as for women, but without nail polish. The ladies tried to convince me that to get some nice colors, but I put my foot down. So for about 70$ you get (not necessarily in this order)

Soak
Nail shaping
Cuticle conditioning
Granular exfoliation
Brief foot massage
Application of moisturizing creams
Nails are buffed
Some green lotion rubbed on your feet.
No "happy ending"

My feet are very ticklish, but other than a couple of brief moments, there was never any discomfort. Obviously I was dealing with a professional. If I was filthy rich, I would gladly go on a regular basis. So if one of you ladies, want to invite me to go get a a pedicure, I'll be happy to oblige.

12. Start a blog

Well item #12 is complete. And I guess I will try to maintain it until I turn 40.

Setting up a blog took a bit more effort than I expected. There are a few sites that can host your blog, some of them you need to pay, but also need blog software to actually setup the blog pages. Blogger was the simplest way to do it, since both features are combined together and it's free. Apparently it can be limiting in terms of features, but in my case, I doubt that it will affect me.
